In a partnership between Kellogg’s and Winn-Dixie, a program was designed to help four families a year realize their dreams of home ownership. For every two Kellogg's, Keebler, Cheez It, Eggo, or Kashi products purchased in a single transaction during the 6 week promotional period at Winn-Dixie, Kellogg’s donates .25 cents up to $50,000 towards building a Habitat house in a designated area. Currently, Winn-Dixie and Kellogg’s have built a total of eight homes in the Florida, Mississippi, Georgia and Louisiana markets. Still under construction are two houses - one in Florida and one in Alabama, with yet another two planned in Louisiana and Florida in the later part of 2008.
Current Projects:
Currently Kellogg’s and Winn-Dixie have two Habitat for Humanity homes under construction, one in Montgomery, Alabama and the other in Atlantic Beach, FL. The Wall Raising ceremony for the White family’s Habitat for Humanity home in Montgomery, Alabama was on January 11, 2008. Lisa White and her children Erica and Alex will soon be moving into their new home after the Home Dedication in May 2008.

Winn-Dixie and Kellogg’s are celebrating a milestone with the construction of their 10th home — in Atlantic Beach, Fla. — coming back to where it all began in 2005. A Wall Raising ceremony for the 10th home kicked off construction for the Pastrana family’s home on April 11, 2008. This summer, Winn-Dixie and Kellogg’s officials and a special celebrity guest will present keys to the house to the deserving new homeowners!
The dedication of their new home comes four months after Winn-Dixie and Kellogg’s first announced a donation of $45,000 — the full amount needed to build the Carrs’ home. Back in February, the first wall of the house went up. Officials from Winn-Dixie, Kellogg’s and Habitat for Humanity, along with community leaders, volunteers and the Carrs family themselves, took hammers in hand to begin the day’s work of framing and building.
The day will soon be here when the family can move into their new home and begin their new life. Dawna Carrs has completed nursing assistant training and plans on tackling nursing school next, and her daughter has dreams of her own, too — following in her mother’s footsteps in nursing. Dawna’s son dreams of being an inventor, a writer and a football and baseball player.
